Northwest Tech Athletics welcomes full-time athletic trainer

Northwest Kansas Technical College athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of the school's head athletic trainer, Shelby Heatwole.

"It has been a busy start since I arrived in Goodland but I am extremely excited to start building a sports medicine program, while using what I learned at K-state to be a valuable resource to all the student-athletes," Heatwole said. "Everyone here at Northwest Tech have been very welcoming and making this transition easy. Also, all the coaches have been willing to help with whatever is needed from me, which has been a huge relief."

Her main responsibilities include rehab assistance, wound care management, emergency care and injury prevention. Heatwole will also be at the majority of Northwest Tech sporting events to provide quick response and care to injuries.

Heatwole is a recent Kansas State University graduate, majoring in athletic training with a minor in kinesiology.  She was raised in Garden City, Kansas and was a Garden City HS graduate prior to attending K-State.
